5 Must-Have Basics from Amazon

Oh, Amazon. How did we ever live without you?

If you are anything like me, then Amazon has become your go to for everything from household products to home décor. How can you compete with the fastest shipping times and easy, free returns especially if you're in a pinch? Although the pandemic and quarantine has made many retail consumers who weren't already keen on shopping for certain things online to switch over to the dark side, I for one have shopped online for basically everything for quite some time. It could be due to the fact that I worked in customer facing retail from the time I was 16 until I turned 26 which essentially translates to 10 years of working nights, weekends, and holidays as well as the infamous 12+ hour shift for the annual Black Friday. Long story short, I no longer have the patience to deal with crowds and fitting rooms.

Unlike many online retail stores who charge return shipping or only offer store credit for returns, Amazon makes purchasing clothes extremely painless. Not only do you not have to worry about cost if the item doesn't work out, but you can try things on in the comfort of your own home. I have accumulated so many awesome pieces and accessories from Amazon over the years for a multitude of different occasions, but there are definitely a few that I wear and use on a weekly basis.

1. This versatile, oversized linen button down.

Ya'll, I literally cannot say enough about this button down. It has become the number 1 item that people DM me about on social media. I originally purchased this to be worn as a beach cover up for our trip to Marco Island, Florida. I have since worn it as a normal top tucked in to jeans and also un-buttoned as a type of cardigan/kimono for layering.

2. This fuzzy, knit cardigan.

This cardigan is everything. I initially went to Amazon in search of an affordable coatigan that I could wear while lounging around the house. This piece is so comfortable and warm without being the kind of sweater material that literally makes you sweat. It's also a great basic for Fall and Winter!

I am a US size 4 but I ended up purchasing size Medium. I tend to like things a little bit oversized and almost always size up. I bought the beige/tan color seen in the picture but there are tons of other colors as well. Currently priced at $36.99 on Amazon!

3. This ribbed crop top.

As a woman who typically likes baggy, oversized clothing, it takes a lot for me to love something that is any bit of tight, cropped or form fitting. However, I stumbled upon these basic ribbed crop tops on Amazon and now have them in multiple colors. The ribbed material is extremely soft/stretchy and the square neckline is trendy and flattering.

In true "me" fashion, I ordered size Large. For reference purposes, I have a larger chest and an hourglass figure. I definitely could've done the Medium and still been comfortable. Currently $7.99 on Amazon.

4. These buttery soft leggings.

Who doesn't love a good pair of leggings? They have become a staple in just about every woman's closet. However, for different uses you need different legging material. These super soft leggings are perfect for every day use, not so much for exercise. They are high-waisted and so light it honestly doesn't feel like you're wearing any bottoms.

5. These platform, fuzzy slipper slides.

I'm sure most people have seen these slippers all over social media. For me, I just wanted a comfortable slipper that wasn't fully enclosed. These are so comfortable and easy, not to mention trendy.

They fit true to size. I am a shoe size 6 and purchased the 5-6.5. Currently $19.99 on Amazon.

AMAZON SHOPPING TIP: Read the reviews and always check the pictures people upload. If you're still not sure and the seller offers free returns, order 2 different sizes and return the one that doesn't work.
