If you're anything like me, the fast approaching Fall season is the pick me up and change that is very much needed. There's just something about brisk Fall air, rich colors of changing leaves and the homey smells of pumpkin everything that make me feel like I'm wrapped up in a warm blanket. In addition to a shift in weather, scenery and front porch decor, Fall also arrives with a whole new season's worth of fashion trends.

One of my favorite things about the fashion industry is getting to experiment with different trends. My style is definitely not set in stone and changes quicker than ocean tides, but to me that's what makes it fun! I've researched and read numerous different articles and have put together this master list of a few Autumn/Winter 2020 fashion trends (as seen on the runway) that I absolutely cannot wait to try!

1. Chain Details

Apparently the motto for 2020 A/W RTW is 'the bigger the chain, the better' and I'm here for it. From jewelry and handbags to shoes and clothing, Fashion Week showcased its fair share of chain detailing. I feel like this trend is something I haven't seen in a few years but I'm more than ready to experiment this season. [Scroll for Inspo]

2. Schoolgirl Prep

Bringing back the argyle and also some Clueless vibes. We've already seen the resurgence of the Schoolgirl Prep look with tennis skirts and now we are seeing it hit the runway in the form on layered collared shirts and sweaters. Fashion Week was definitely not short of vintage looking varsity sweaters, sweater vests and preppy button downs. Personally, I love it but total disclaimer, I have never had to wear a uniform of any kind so to me this look is fresh and something new to try! [Scroll for Inspo]

3. Leather

Leather in itself is nothing new and is quite the staple in everyone's wardrobe. But for Autumn/Winter 2020 RTW, I'm not just referring to that leather jacket or those leather booties you break out each year. This season takes leather and drapes you head to toe in it. I'm talking leather trench coats, blazers, shorts, trousers, tops and even shackets. There is no denying that you need to incorporate some of these leather pieces into your A/W closet! [Scroll for Inspo]

4. Capes

Am I the only one who has never NOT incorporated capes into their Autumn/Winter wardrobe? Just me? Oh well. Either way, capes hit the runway and you will definitely want one this season. Functional, classy and chic, it is a no brainer and I love the structure it brings to an outfit. It is the perfect layering piece! [Scroll for Inspo]

5. Intimate Apparel

This is not necessarily anything new, as I've seen these bra tops incorporated already for Spring/Summer 2020. However, they are more of a layering piece now that cooler weather is upon us. Realistically, I probably won't be able to experiment much with this trend as I have a larger chest and would more than likely look completely indecent. So as much I love it, I'll be living vicariously through those of you who end up styling these types of pieces! [Scroll for Inspo]

6. Plaid

Plaid is already a staple in my personal Autumn/Winter wardrobe. Living in the South, oversized flannel is like a uniform once the overly hot summer heat is gone. (There's nothing like a good flannel and a bonfire) I will say though that I am looking forward to incorporating plaid in other forms like pants, skirts and jackets. Timeless and stylish, it may seem trendy now but this is one that seems more cyclical rather than a fad. Invest in some nice pieces that can last you many years to come! [Scroll for Inspo]

7. Skirt Suits

Real talk, I am loving the way these skirt suits appeared on the runway but in reality who knows how much I will actually experiment with them. Don't get me wrong, I love a good co ord and have already seen a few that I like but I will more than likely just end up mixing and matching instead. To me, it's like Clueless meets office chic but I love it! [Scroll for Inspo]

Short and sweet for this post but hopefully you got some inspiration with trends to incorporate and make your own this Autumn/Winter season. Let me know what you thought! As always, thanks for reading. xoxo
